The start of the season is right around the corner. The gear is being checked and repaired. Fields are being watched and the excitement is increasing. Our eyes are looking to the skies. I am spending more time watching hunting videos than I did a few months ago.
This season I am wanting to set a few goals to gauge how the season is going. Most of these goals are reasonable. I am not thinking along the lines of group goals but personal hunting goals. Here’s what I am ‘shooting’ for this season.
CANADA GEESE
4 Limits (32 Geese Total)
GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE (SPECKLEBELLIES)
5 Limits (25 Birds)
SNOW GEESE
3 Alberta Limits (150 Birds)
SANDHILL CRANES
2 Limits (10 Birds)
DUCKSĀ
5 Limits (40 ducks)
I wish to also shoot at least 1 of the following types as well: Mallard, Pintail, Widgeon, Gadwell, Blue-Wing Teal, Green-Wing Teal, Canvas-Back, Redhead, Spoonbill, and a Bufflehead
CONCLUSION
I am really looking for a couple nice birds to taxidermy. I did not shoot any nice Blues last season and I am wanting to keep a few majestic Specks for mounting. These goals are achievable and I hope to smash them. As the season goals along I will know what I need to do and what species to target to get it done.
